If your Shark Lift-Away upright has lost suction or the brush roll has stopped, unplug it first. Then check these in order.
1. Look for blockages
Check the dust cup, the hose, the wand and the floor head for blockages. Hair and small items can block the hose or the opening to the floor head. Clear anything you find, and make sure the dust cup is emptied and fitted properly.
2. Clean or replace the filters
Shark filters should be cleaned as the manufacturer instructs. Let any washed filter dry fully before refitting it. A clogged filter reduces suction even when nothing is blocked.
3. Check the brush roll and belt
Turn the floor head over and cut away any hair wrapped around the brush roll. If the roll turns freely but does not spin under power, the belt may be stretched or broken. We list belts and brush rolls for these models:
4. Floor head or motor problems
If the brush roll will not turn and the belt is fine, the floor head motor may have failed. If suction is poor after you have cleared blockages and cleaned the filters, the main motor may be at fault.

Match the model number
Shark model numbers matter. Look for the model number on your machine, such as NV602 or NZ801, and choose a listing with the same number. Browse all Shark parts, or use our model number guide.
