When the brush bar on a Dyson cordless stops turning, the machine still sucks but picks up far less from carpet. It usually comes down to one of three things.
1. Hair or debris wrapped round the bar
Take the battery off, turn the head over and cut away any hair, thread or string wrapped round the bar and the end caps. A jammed bar can make the head stop spinning to protect the motor.
2. The head is not seating properly
Remove the head and refit it firmly until it clicks. Check the connection points for debris. If the head fits loosely or the connector looks damaged, the head may need replacing.
3. The motor in the head has worn out
If the bar spins freely by hand but does nothing when the machine is running, the motor in the head may have failed. Heads are model specific, so match the head to your machine.
